THE Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) officially opened a two-day Career and Health Promotion Roadshow in conjunction with its 56th anniversary at the Multipurpose Hall of Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School (SMSAB) in Kampong Lambak Kanan with the theme ‘Improving Quality of Life Through a Healthy Lifestyle’ yesterday.

Present as the co-guest of honours during the opening ceremony were Colonel Dr Mohammad Hafizul bin Hassan, Acting Commander of Combat Service Support, Royal Brunei Land Forces; and Nudin bin Haji Mohammad, Acting Senior Special Duties Officer (Corporate) at the Department of Schools, Ministry of Education.

Also present were the principals of schools involved, special guests, teachers and students.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by an opening speech by Colonel Dr Mohammad Hafizul who highlighted that the objective of the roadshow was to give an opportunity to students to expose them with a career choice in the RBAF with the theme, ‘Together in Bringing Success to the Country’s Vision’.

The acting commander added that the roadshow helps in promoting healthier life choices in achieving the country’s national Vision 2035 to enhance the quality of the people’s lives through the national initiative of emphasising a healthy lifestyle.

The acting commander also officially opened the roadshow after his speech.

As collaboration between the RBAF and the Ministry of Education, the roadshow includes presentations from several RBAF units that provide information about the breadth of opportunities that the military profession has to offer and also creates awareness of living a healthy lifestyle among the new generations.

The career presentations are delivered at the SMSAB library by representatives from the Royal Brunei Land Forces, Royal Brunei Navy, Royal Brunei Air Force, Medical Reception Services and Recruiting Office RBAF.

The roadshow also features an array of military and medical displays that provide students with interactive experiences, free health screenings and information booths.

The RBAF hopes that the event is able to reach its objective and to strengthen the cooperation between the Ministry of Education and RBAF to achieve and support each other’s hopes and initiatives.

Schools involved in the roadshow include Rimba II Secondary School, Lambak Kiri Secondary School, Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College, Rimba Secondary School, Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School, Berakas Secondary School, SMSAB, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Secondary School, and St Andrew’s Secondary School.
